About This Motorbike Paint

Royal Enfield Motorcycle Paint motorbike paint is mixed to the motorcycle colour code supplied with your order. You can choose a 400ml 1K base-coat aerosol, a 400ml 2K direct-gloss aerosol, a 60ml, 100ml or 250ml 1K tester pot, or a 20ml 1K touch-up pen depending on the size of the job.

For small stone chips and minor marks, a touch-up pen is often the most convenient option. Tester pots are useful for colour checking and smaller repairs, while aerosols are better suited to larger areas where a more even sprayed finish is required.

Good preparation makes a noticeable difference to the finished result. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from grease, wax, silicone and other contamination. Remove loose or failing paint and prepare damaged areas properly before applying colour. Bare metal, filler or other exposed substrates may need a suitable primer first.

The 400ml 1K aerosol is supplied as a base coat and will normally require a compatible clear lacquer afterwards to provide the finished gloss and additional protection. The 400ml 2K option is a direct-gloss coating, so a separate clear lacquer is not normally required.

Always test the colour before applying it to the final repair. Motorcycle finishes can change with age, sunlight, polishing and previous repair work, so freshly mixed paint may appear slightly different beside an older existing finish even when the original colour code is correct.

Before Applying Your Paint

Check that the colour is suitable before applying it to the final visible area. We recommend carrying out a test application first and allowing it to dry so you can assess the colour and finish before continuing with the repair.

Some motorcycle colours use more than one coating stage or have alternative formulations under the same basic colour reference. If we need additional information about the code supplied with your order, we will contact you before the paint is prepared.

Primer is not automatically required over every sound existing paint finish. However, bare metal, filler, repaired areas and other exposed substrates may require a suitable primer before the colour coat is applied.

Drying Times

Approximately 20–30 minutes touch dry under suitable conditions. Drying time can vary with temperature, film thickness, ventilation and the product being applied. Refer to the product instructions before recoating or handling.

Directions for Aerosol Use

  1. Make sure the area to be painted is clean, dry and properly prepared.
  2. Mask surrounding areas that need to be protected from overspray.
  3. Shake the aerosol thoroughly for approximately two minutes before use, and continue to shake it periodically during application.
  4. Carry out a test spray and colour check before applying paint to the final visible area.
  5. Hold the aerosol approximately 20–30 cm from the surface, unless the instructions supplied with the product specify otherwise.
  6. Apply controlled, overlapping passes rather than trying to achieve full coverage with one heavy coat.
  7. Allow appropriate flash-off time between coats and follow the product instructions for subsequent coats or lacquer.
  8. After use, follow the aerosol instructions for clearing the spray nozzle and storing the product safely.
  9. Never point the aerosol towards yourself or another person.
  10. Always read the label and relevant Safety Data Sheet before use, particularly when using 2K products.
