Voxam Motorcycle Paint paint gives you several options for repairing or refinishing your motorbike without having to order the same quantity for every type of job. Choose from 400ml 1K base-coat and 2K direct-gloss aerosols, 60ml, 100ml and 250ml 1K tester pots, or a 20ml 1K touch-up pen.
Match the product to the repair. Pens are useful for small chips, tester pots suit smaller areas and colour checks, and aerosol cans make it easier to apply an even coating over larger sections such as panels, fairings and other suitable prepared surfaces.
Take time over preparation before opening the paint. The area should be thoroughly cleaned and degreased, damaged edges should be feathered where appropriate, and loose paint or corrosion should be removed. If preparation exposes bare substrate, select a primer suitable for that material before applying the colour.
The 1K aerosol is a base-coat system and will normally be finished with a compatible clear lacquer. The 2K aerosol is a direct-gloss system and does not normally need a separate clear coat. These products have different application and safety requirements, so always check the instructions and safety information for the product you are using.
Test the mixed colour before carrying out the full repair. Age, UV exposure, previous refinishing and differences in application can all affect how a fresh coating appears alongside the paint already on the motorcycle.
Check that the colour is suitable before applying it to the final visible area. We recommend carrying out a test application first and allowing it to dry so you can assess the colour and finish before continuing with the repair.
Some motorcycle colours use more than one coating stage or have alternative formulations under the same basic colour reference. If we need additional information about the code supplied with your order, we will contact you before the paint is prepared.
Primer is not automatically required over every sound existing paint finish. However, bare metal, filler, repaired areas and other exposed substrates may require a suitable primer before the colour coat is applied.
